Zest Artist Collective

instagram
This international artist collaboration consists of five artists, who have met through their professional, site-responsive, nomadic, nature based arts  practice. During the onset of the COVID pandemic, unable to travel, they connected virtually through weekly meetings and intensive exchanges. Meeting  online they researched and brainstormed concepts in relation to their new  confinement existence and the impacts on their own country’s ecology.

The five artists hail from Australia, Italy, Netherlands, Germany/Namibia and Spain.

Zest Artist Collective's inaugural project was launched in July 2020 at the Museum Schokland, Netherlands, followed by the International Biennale of Andorra 2021; and further projects in the OFF DakArt in Senegal (2022), Spain (2022) and RespirArt, Italy (2022).

Artists

Imke Rust   Namibia | Germany

Picture
Imke is a multidisciplinary Namibian artist, based in Germany. In her work she explores relationships between myth, reality, humans and nature. She challenges entrenched perceptions about being human and offers fresh perspectives. Her art making is deeply personal in an attempt to create meaning through process, narrative and material. Simultaneously she easily bridges the divides between cultures and continents, between history and the present and between humans and nature, establishing a universal narrative and understanding. Her works range from site-specific installations, lens-based performances to mixed media paintings and usually are process-orientated, site-responsive and often ephemeral.
Rust holds a BVA of Visual Arts Degree from the University of South Africa.

Karin van der Molen exhibited world wide, including in Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, USA, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Ivory Coast. She combines her sculptural work with photo performances and organising international art projects.

Elena Redaelli    Italy | Norway

Picture
In her projects, Elena Redaelli explores matter, transformation, processes of generation and decay involving different levels of control and challenging the boundaries of authorship and active intervention. Sometimes the material takes the lead, other times the participants or the environment itself does, resulting in a constant process of transformation, improvisation and exchange. The medium becomes a cross pollination of different techniques often taken from the domains of craft, sculpture, textile, drawings and relational aesthetics. The act of art making is an interrogative process within a new environment and her personal way to get closer to new cultures and people.
Redaelli holds a MA Fine Arts from UCA, London, UK and a MA Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts, Rome.
Since 2010 she’s been living and exhibiting her works in different countries: Italy, Norway, Australia, USA, Japan, China, Taiwan (...) building her practice thanks to different AIR programs.

She has participated in numerous exhibitions both individual and collective in institutions and Museums of recognized prestige: CDAN, MUSAC, IVAM, CAB, ACVIC, Sala Tecla, Matadero, La Casa Encendida, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Estampa, Museo Contemporáneo Esteban Vicente, La Panera, Centro Cultural Montehermoso, Galería Estampa, Museo Provincial Bellas Artes de Tucumán, Jardín botánico de Bogotá, Palacio del Quintanar, Ap Gallery…
